Srinagar, February 13 (KNO) : Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and President of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday cautioned the Governor administration not to sow seeds of discord and create new fault lines in already perturbed state of Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing a press conference here at her Gupkar residence, Mufti slammed the Governor administration over adopting different yard sticks for different regions in the state, and said that Governor Malik is implementing the core BJP agenda in otherwise Muslim majority state by dividing Jammu and Kashmir into fragments and pitting different regions and communities against each other. “We acted as a major hurdle for the BJP to implement its agenda in Jammu and Kashmir. However, since the time it toppled the democratically elected government, the party is trying to rule the state through Governor and is making strenuous efforts to alienate the Muslims of the state,” Mehbooba said as per KNO correspondent. Mehbooba who was accompanied by party vice president Abdul Rehman Veeri, Chief Spokesman Rafi Ahmad Mir, MLC Mohammad Khurshid Alam and Muhammad Ashraf Mir added that those at the helm including Governor Malik must know that Jammu and Kashmir is a Muslim majority state and any move aimed at alienating the majority community will have grave consequences. Demanding rotational headquarters at both Kargil and Leh for the recently created Ladakh division, the former chief minister said it was unfortunate that the otherwise peace loving people of Kargil are pushed to the wall with their rights being taken away from them in an unnatural manner. She further stated that BJP while being PDP’s coalition partner in the state acted as a major hurdle in creation of separate divisions for Pir Panchal and Chenab Valley. “You cannot adopt different yardsticks for different regions of the state. There are strenuous efforts being made to create new fault lines, pit people of the state against one another. I caution the Governor administration not to play with fire in a sensitive state like Jammu and Kashmir,” Mehbooba said. Hailing the tolerant and harmonious sprit of the people of Jammu, Mehbooba said the way in which the people of Jammu are catering to the needs of stranded passengers is worth to be appreciated. She however said the actions of few feckless miscreants cannot undermine the earnest services rendered by the peace loving people of Jammu for the stuck up passengers from Kashmir. Mehbooba further demanded stern action against the traders involved in the black marketing of the essential commodities in Kashmir, stating that prices of essentials are touching sky and authorities continue to remain in slumber. She further reiterated that the passengers should be airlifted without any delay as there are old patients, women and children in hordes bearing the brunt of the closure of highway.(KNO)
